Microdermabrasion Aftercare

Tuesday, May 24, 2011 Posted by Matt

It is imperative that you follow the guidelines below to ensure your skin stays in tip top condition post treatment. Failure to do so can impact and damage your skin.

  • Avoid swimming in chlorinated water for 24 hours.
  • Avoid excessive heat for 24 hours. No sauna, steam or strenuous exercise.
  • No abrasive products, such as scrubs for 3 days.
  • No Glycolic, Lactic, Salicylic acid products to be used for at least 3 days.
  • No Retinol or benzoyl peroxide products to be used for at least 3 days.
  • No waxing, IPL, laser or chemical peels for 1 week.
  • No sunbeds or sunbathing for 1 week post treatment.
  • Mild flaking perfectly normal after microdermabrasion.
  • It is important to moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!!!!!

Your skin is protected with Sunscreen (SPF25) at the end your treatment, but you must keep
re-applying it yourself as part of your homecare.

Microdermabrasion makes your skin temporarily photo-sensitive to ultra violet light, failure to
apply recommended amounts of sunscreen could result in irreparable damage to your skin.

SPF15+ must be applied at all times when in contact with daylight!

If you have any questions regarding the after effects of the treatment please do not hesitate
to get in touch  with me by email or phone, details can be found on the 'Contact Me' tab on
the right of this; but if you have any issues that appear serious then please contact your GP
immediately.
